Using nVidia Control Panel to create a custom Screen Resolution

We have had reports from some of our customers that occasionally Windows will only show a resolution option of 640 x 480 in the selection box. All of the RealSimGear hardware will now support resolutions of at least 1024 x 768 (and some like the G1000 even higher), but due to some bug between the screen and Windows, Windows simply does not show the additional resolutions. In some cases we have noticed that using a USB3 > HDMI adapter such as the one we sell via our website, solves this problem.
However, given the screens do support higher resolutions, there is a way to create custom resolutions using your graphics card control software. Below I will outline how this is done via nVidia Control Panel for nVidia graphics cards. ** If you have a different card, you will need to refer to that card Mfg for how to do this using their software.
1. Open up nVidia Control Panel by RIGHT clicking on your Desktop and choosing it from the menu.
2. Select "Change resolution" and then select the screen you are trying to modify (likely wont have any "Resolutions" already showing or maybe just 648 x 480. Then choose "Customize..." at the bottom.
3. Click "Create a Custom Resolution"
4. You will need to "ACCEPT" the ToS for this. DO NOTE, CREATING CUSTOM RESOLUTIONS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR SCREEN OR GRAPHICS CARD AND/OR CAUSE YOUR PC TO CRASH! DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK, REALSIMGEAR BEARS NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU CREATE A RESOLUTION THAT CAUSES DAMAGES.
6. This is where you create the custom resolution. Set common sizes such as 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and always have the refresh rate set to 60Hz. Hit "Test" to test it out, your screen should adjust to the resolution and show your Desktop.
If it looks good, click "Yes" to save the resolution.
7. Once saved, you will be presented with a list of your created resolutions (I created two in this example). Select any custom resolutions you want to be able to choose from, check the "Enable resolutions not exposed by the display" box, and then hit "OK".
8. You should now see your custom resolution selections in nVidia Control Panel. Simply choose the one you want to use and hit Apply.
9. You will also see that now these resolutions are shown and selectable in Windows Display Manger as well.
